When Viola Davis walked onstage at the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday to accept her award for Best Supporting Actress, she also vaulted herself into one of the most prestigious acting clubs in the world. 

With the win for her work in the 2016 film “Fences,” Davis becomes the 23rd person to complete the so-called triple crown of acting, which is the term used to describe actors and actresses who have won at least one competitive acting award at the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys. 

She is the first black woman to do so.

Prior to “Fences,” Davis had won an Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on “How to Get Away with Murder” and two Tony Awards, first in 2001 for her work in “King Hedley II” and then again in 2010 for her work in the Broadway rendition of “Fences.”

Davis joins an acting group that includes acting legends like Jessica Lange, Helen Mirren, Al Pacino and Ingrid Bergman. But even some of the greatest actors and actresses in history, including one of Davis’ acting heroes, Meryl Streep, haven’t completed the triad like Davis did Sunday. 

Notably, Whoopi Goldberg actually has also completed a triple crown of sorts, but her Tony came from producing the Broadway musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” not acting in it.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Mahershala Ali won the best supporting actor Oscar on Sunday for his role as a drug-dealing mentor to an impoverished black boy in the intimate independent drama "Moonlight."

Ali, 43, plays Juan, a drug dealer who takes a young black boy living in Miami with a drug-addict mother, under his wing.

It was the first Oscar win and nomination for Ali who was considered the frontrunner in the category after winning a slew of earlier awards for his performance.

Accepting the award on stage, Ali thanked his teachers.

"One thing that they consistently told me ... is that it wasn't about you," Ali said. "It's not about you. It's about these characters. You are in service to these stories and these characters."

In "Moonlight," Ali's Juan teaches young Chiron to swim and encourages him to not be weighed down by his environment but rather to carve his own destiny.

Ali also appeared in another Oscar-nominated movie this year, "Hidden Figures," in which he plays a U.S. 

colonel who woos Taraji P. Henson's black female mathematician in the 1960s.

The Oakland, California, actor is probably best known for playing former White House Chief of Staff Remy Danton in Netflix's political drama "House of Cards," and conniving Cottonmouth in Netflix's Marvel superhero series "Luke Cage."

Ali's career has spanned television, film and theater. He started out playing a doctor on TV series "Crossing Jordan" in 2001, and since then has had roles in dozens of projects including TV series "Treme" and "Alphas."

The 43-year-old actor won Best Supporting Actor at Sunday's Academy Awards for his performance in Moonlight, making him the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar.

 

"I just want to thank my wife, who was in her third trimester during award season," Ali said during his moving acceptance speech.

"We just had a daughter four days ago," he continued. "So, I just want to thank her for being such a soldier through this process and help and really carrying me through it all."

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Just one day after hundreds of gravestones were found vandalized at a Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia, Jewish community centers in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were evacuated on Monday.

All the threats have been unfounded at this point, but the FBI and the Justice Department are now investigating.

In Cherry Hill, bomb sniffing dogs were dispatched to Katz Jewish Community Center.

The worthiness of being Black means what? Never mind, don’t even waste your time trying to answer.  Allow me to help.

Read my poem… Only the fool doesn’t know how beautiful they are… Only the fool doesn’t know that beauty is skin cheerful, meaning that the skin complexion is beautiful, and beauty is skin deep, meaning that the skin within is connected to the heart of a loving or evil person. So answer yourself... Who are you? Really. Only you can decide.

So be beautiful on the outer you and inner you- the Dark Rose. And what I spoke my friend is one way to do poetry.  

The worthiness of being Black is a stupid thought. Being stupid means that an individual knows better to think or do something… he or she will think or do it- anyway.

What is the color of pure water? Should anyone care to answer the question? Wait… the worthiness of being the color of pure water means what? Spend a whole lot of your time trying to answer. It’s a great thought.  Being great or dumb means that an individual doesn’t know better to think or do something… he or she will not think or do it- at all.

So, pure water is nearly colorless.   However, it does absorb slightly more red light than blue, giving large volumes of water a bluish tint; increased scattering of blue light due to fine particles in the water shifts the blue color toward green, for a typically great color- no one rejects or says anything harmful about the color of pure water.  Maybe the stupid people will something harmful about the color of pure water… stupid people will not reject pure water because of its color.

Therefore, there are shades of the color of pure water.

Pure water is just as beautiful as a dark rose. Have you ever been introduced to a person known for rejecting a dark rose?

Is there a person interested in rejecting poetry? Many people will say that they don’t like to write poems. Pure water is just as beautiful as a poem.

The primary colors of life are red, yellow and black. And being light-skinned or dark-skinned happens almost the same way pure water has a color.

Therefore, there are shades of the color black.

Whenever we see a rose we are discovering a shade of black. Name a color of a rose…. Remember the color of pure water… Every color of a rose is a shade of the color black-even a white rose is a shade of the color black.

By the way, here’s something to keep in mind when talking about the color of roses…

When there is talk about the Black Rose, Red Rose, Yellow Rose, Blue Rose, Pink Rose, White Rose most of the time someone is speaking about romantic activity.

When there is talk about the Dark Rose most of the time someone is speaking about the beautiful human being born -being dark-skinned or light skinned. Very beautiful to know and share.

Snow White is a fiction folk tale borrowed from non-fiction life in Moorland- the lands of the Black Peoples known as the Moors.
