Longtime Pennsauken New Jersey and Philly Pennsylvania Art Institute of Philadelphia alumni host Leatherflower will pivot her design art program and radio show on Philly Funk Radio WPMR-DM - www.phillyfunkradio.com - and Power WVSR-FM WISN-AM - www.fpnnews.org - (11:15am) eastern-time into a podcast show at the end of the 2024 year, she announced in a Thursday news release on the Philly Live Show with host Jerry Wilson, broadcaster and Van Stone, radio station and newspaper owner.

"My show, in its new stage, will be bigger and better as time goes by," Leatherflower said in the announcement, emphasizing that she's just expanding.

The content of her program will continue to be a combination of local and national topics, like when she performed all about the arts. But Leatherflower intends for it to be "even more designer feeling than my current culture and family approach."

According to a Jerry Wilson Philly Funk Radio Youtube Channel report, Leatherflower joined WPMR and Power WVSR as the arts-talk and audio voice-over station's drive-time host in December 2024 and will be a fixture in local talk radio and talk podcast since. She's currently the weekday top-of-the-hour morning, afternoon, evening and night  drive-time host on News/Music/Talk starting at 11:15am www.phillyfunkradio.com per website and www.fpnnews.org per website, per website. 

As she began her New Jersey show, Leatherflower set out to be "the best local Arts Institute of Philadelphia alumni radio/podcast talk show in New Jersey and Philly," she says.

 

"I feel I will have achieved that goal by every possible measurement," she says. So far, listeners, viewers and readers give her program a very high listen and watch share of any local talk show in the Philly surrounding areas (top markets, also known as “network” markets). In addition ... www.phillyfunkradio.com and www.fpnnew.org - www.wvsrwpmr.org are the most listened-to radio stations in the Philly area.

Living in an on-demand world, the host of Art Institute of Philadelphia Alumni Show with Leatherflower is the future of spoken word and art design programming in both audio talk podcasting and video talk podcasting. Going the streaming, podcasting and blogging route also will give her more flexibility and freedom. Plus, her current radio program is already a popular podcast on Van Stone Philadelphia company.

Leatherflower will hangout in both New Jersey and Philly for her new podcast and will record it in Pennsauken New Jersey and the Van Stone Productions Foundation House-Center West Philadelphia studios. There will be at least three episodes released on air every week beginning December 24, 2024.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There was a little something extra in the stocking for Philadelphia schoolchildren on Tuesday. Each of the city’s district and charter school students received a gift, courtesy of the “Philly Specials” — better known as Eagles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, as well as retired Eagle Jason Kelce.

The Birds proceeds from latest holiday album to buy toys for every Philly district and charter student.

Mailata led the kids at Eliza B. Kirkbride School in South Philly in a rousing rendition of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” to kick off “Operation Snowball.” All 200,000 Philly students received a hat, a toy, lip balm or a certificate for hot chocolate — funded with donations and the proceeds from the Specials’ third holiday album, “A Philly Special Christmas Party.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Jay-Z says a rape allegation made against him is part of an extortion attempt.

A woman who previously sued Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging she was raped at an awards show after-party in 2000 when she was 13, amended the lawsuit Sunday to include a new allegation that Jay-Z was also at the party and participated in the sexual assault.

The 24-time Grammy award winning rapper, producer and music mogul called the allegations “idiotic” and “heinous in nature" in a statement released by Roc Nation, one of his companies.

He also revealed that he had anonymously sued the woman's lawyer, Tony Buzbee, last month, alleging he was trying to blackmail the rapper by threatening to make the rape allegation public if he didn't agree to a legal settlement. He said Buzbee sent a letter to his lawyer appearing to seek a settlement, but that the letter had the “opposite effect" on him.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — SEPTA’s first fare increase since 2017 took effect on Sunday. The SEPTA Board approved the 7.5% hike almost two weeks ago following public hearings in October. It raises the Travel Wallet fare for buses, subways and trolleys from $2 to $2.50.

SEPTA rider Rob, at City Hall Station, says he's accepted it.

"Well, I'm not really too concerned about it, because the price is just going to keep going up until it's at a price they like. So we're just going to have to deal with it, I guess, if you catch transportation," he said. "Or get a car."
