Born in the United States, Richard “Ricardo DaVinci” Gibson developed an interest in artwork, videography, and news at an early age. Currently a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he continues to share his illustrations all over Philadelphia County.
"I was fascinated by drawings as well as paintings by lots of friends and famous artists," Gibson said.
After working at an art store and on the citywide project called Project Positive Hip Hop Workshop, Ricardo DaVinci Gibson volunteered primarily in West Philadelphia, where he continued to draw and do video photography production.
Although he admits to taking a break for awhile from video and film while he was working in the retail management field, in 2015 he resumed his artwork drawing characters and real life images.
Gibson has developed a love for American and Urban American artwork, specifically landscapes and other famous works that he viewed statewide.
“I’m inspired by the beauty in so many different things, from those found in nature to the people I see every day on the streets,” says Gibson.
"Most of my life, I have really enjoyed the beauty in art, architecture, music and nature," said Gibson.
He uses many techniques he has learned from his studies in artwork.
Richard uses painting as a way to help people escape from everyday challenges.
Whenever he travels, Gibson brings professional cameras with him to take pictures and video always mindful of his professional photography and video work.
Van Stone, Editor and Publisher of the Philadelphia Front Page News, will post art and photography that features many different artists that are national and intercultural professionals.
Gibson use of color makes his work uniquely professional and may be used as an inspiration when readers and viewers see them displayed in the newspaper or magazine.
As much as Gibson enjoys creating art, he experiences more joy when he shares his work with others. He says he feels the love when other people view his work and are in awe by it drawing characters and real life images since 2015.
