Van Stone: Trick Question- Forget? In 1985 Mayor Wilson Goode’s Police
Dropped A Bomb On A West Philly Neighborhood Killing 11 And Destroying
61 Homes? Good Was The Best Mayor Philly Has Ever Had? Huh?
You got to be kidding. Wilson Goode was Philadelphia's greatest Mayor? The only thing that Goode was Philadelphia's first Black mayor.
Get real. How can the mayor be a scapegoat when he is the boss of the police and fire department? And your comments are just one reason why terrible groups of Black peoples went out and voted for Goode to have a second term.
You are probably just one of the many Black people who dislike Black people. I told you that I have a name for people like you… White Eyes- meaning a Black person who dislikes other Black peoples and oppresses other groups of Black people. White Eyes.
Goode did nothing for Black Tangibles...
Blacks have been in more oppressive and discrimination situations living in Philly when Goode was mayor. Improvements for Blacks in Philly came along only after Goode, since mayor Rendell and especially since mayor Street. Goode betrayed the Black Community. He had no vision for Black Tangibles.
He was a mean and grumpy individual who didn't have the patience for youth or adults trying to cope with crisis.
He exploited the Blackness.
He created a non-profit organization which he named after him and got lots of money because of it. He hired no Black people although he had the funds that was supposed to be used to do so. He demanded of all Blacks who were interested in working with kids to volunteer meanwhile he made sure that Whites who demonstrated no proof that they were interested in working with kids got jobs.
Drop a bomb in a residential neighborhood be it a White neighborhood or Black neighborhood?
There was no good reason to drop a bomb in a residential neighborhood.
And for the record, the Philadelphia fire dept is one of the best, if not the best, fire department when it comes to big city first aid and cpr and disasters responses. So, don’t go hating fire personnel, especially Philly’s finest fire personnel, the Phila. Fire Dept. We love you Phila. Fire Dept. When have you ever read a story that the Philadelphia Fire Dept willfully schemed to ignore a fire just because it was in a particular neighborhood? Fire while Black? Only Driving while Black is a problem in big cities. The Philly fire department will go anywhere, even out of Philly if there wasn’t stipulations that prevents them to do that.
Anyway, back to the 63rd and Pine Street neighborhood that had no protection against Goode’s bomb- The neighborhood burned due to a bomb not materials that may be associated with house fires.
People keep old paint and whatnot in their homes which may be a cause for a house fire to happen.
But since when have you ever heard that most people, especially Black people, keep old bombs in their houses which may be a cause for a house fire to happen?
And finally, during the Goode bomb drop there were Black police officers as well as Black firemen qualified to do their jobs.
If Philadelphia had a mayor during the Move group era who actually had good common sense, not Goode as a name, most likely Philly wouldn't have had to cope with the death of small children and miles of residential neighborhood being ruined.
If you have some better info about Goode let’s see it. Otherwise, Blacker Pride has absolutely nothing to do with a person who just so happen to be born Black.
